Methodology
Planning is fundamental in the design process, but it is ingenuity and the human touch that creates excellence.
No set of drawings, no matter how vivid or detailed, can replace the serendipitous nature of the human mind. We welcome and celebrate such fluid creativity while ensuring artistry and utility are never at odds.
It is our belief that the success of a great golf course project depends on four crucial elements — location, design, construction, and upkeep. But these elements are not mutually exclusive. At Integrative Golf Design we carefully consider all four of these factors before engaging a golf course project.
Our team follows a thorough design process to ensure all facets of the project are accounted for and understood before any dirt is moved. Project feasibility, environmental analysis, construction logistics, operating budget, and maintenance / grow-in requirements are all carefully considered in depth from the very beginning. Relying on site-specific data as our foundation, we can then confidently guide the design process forward in an appropriate direction.
We believe this information-rich approach is essential in creating a sensible golf course product that will result in a much more thoughtful and functional final outcome.
Once actual earthworks begin, we take a more artistic approach to our work. Our team is very responsive to the individual landforms in the field, as an artist would with a painting or a chef does with ingredients. Balancing creative expression with practical restraint is integral to our success. We are constantly nudging the project along as to never over-cook any inherent subtleties or interesting natural characteristics that may exist.
At Integrative Golf Design, our Modus Operandi is to ensure that beauty and utility are always given equal thought and never at odds with one another.
