Forest Dunes Golf Club
10-hole Short Course
Roscommon, MI
In early 2019, Riley Johns partnered with Keith Rhebb of Rhebb Golf Design to design and build a new 10-hole, par 3, short course for Forest Dunes Golf Club in Michigan. The objective of the concept was to create golf holes that both tests and entertains skilled golfers, all while still being enjoyable for young children and beginners. Lew Thompson, owner of Forest Dunes, requested the duo design golf holes that both he and his grandchildren could enjoy together, in addition to all the other resort guests.
The course will play amongst the towering oaks and pines as it ascends to the highest point of the Forest Dunes property. Known as the hilltop, the views of the property will be long, and the holes will lend themselves to a variety of short-game shot-making possibilities. The design intent is to promote and encourage creative and imaginative modes of play. A great environment for a relaxing tune-up of one’s short game, or a fun competitive match amongst groups of friends.
The short course will also be available to be reserved to host events and private functions. When such is the case, the course can be set-up and played as a free-form golf experience. This means choosing your own adventure from one hole to another.
The new 10-hole short course is scheduled to open for play summer of 2020.
